Natchez Trace - Day 7

Our last day of biking the Trace started with breakfast by Bobbye at the Isabella B&B in Port Gibson, MS.  Our traditional Southern breakfast included scrambled eggs, grits, bacon & toast.  Bobbye shared with us the history of the house which she named for it's long time resident, Isabella.

Before getting on the Trace we stopped at the Windsor ruins, a plantation home which survived the Civil War but burned in 1890.  Only the columns and iron work remain.  Bennie flew the drone before we headed for the 30 mile marker on the Trace.  We had a few sprinkles but it was mostly a rain free ride.  We stopped at Mount Locust for snacks.  This home is one of the oldest buildings in the south and the first stand on the Trace and now the only one remaining.  Most travelers would make it this far on their trip home on the Natchez Trace, about 17.5 miles from the Mississippi River in Natchez.

Everyone made it in good time to the Southern Terminus of the Trace just northeast of Natchez.

We rode a total of 301.5 miles in 7 days travelling on the historic trail.  It is a ride through history as well as three beautiful Southern states.

Philip loaded us into the van and we headed back to Franklin arriving at the Fork of the South at 7:50pm.  We made it for a late dinner at the 1892 Restaurant in Lieper Fork, TN.

Day 7 30.5 Miles +1,462 Ft -1,637 Ft Cumulative 299 Miles +11,591 Ft -13,606 Ft
(note the difference between 299 and 301.5 was off Trace riding)
