Tupelo/Nashville

Monday - Day 7

Back on the road headed for Tupelo.  We only had to make one stop to recharge in Jackson, MS.

We spotted this wrapped and painted Model X at the Jackson, MS supercharger.  Turns out the group was on a 50 state road trip (they obviously flew to Alaska and Hawaii) this car and a similarly decorated Lamborghini SUV ($300K).  They are part of a pharmaceutical think tank/advisory group.   You can follow their progress here: https://www.pharmasalmanac.com/the-road-to-50-states.  I did a short interview with them.  We'll send you the link to the video if I make the daily report.

Note above all the charging stations are between the back of the cars....giving more space between cars and no backing in.

Nathan had recommended the Neon Pig for supper so we headed there for a smash burger, fish taco and a beer.  Our meal lived up to Nathan's recommendation.

Tuesday Oct 19 - Day 8

We had a few hours before heading to Franklin/Nashville to explore Tupelo.  We visited the birthplace of Elvis Presley.  Having visited Graceland in the past, it was interesting to see the home he was born in.  In addition to his home they have his early church and the site tells the story of his musical influences:  gospel, bluegrass and the blues.

We also checked out the bike shops looking for Natchez Trace jerseys and leggings for Ann.  We were successful with the latter but did not find any Trace specific jerseys.  Back on the road we stopped to charge in Jackson, TN.  The charger is located at the final home of Casey Jones.  There is a railroad museum telling the story of his fateful crash and death.  By staying at his post we was able to save the passengers on board at his own expense.

Although not necessary we made another charging stop in Dickson before heading to the Fork of the South cottages.  We arrived in time to settle in before heading to dinner at Hattie B's and onto a Victor Wooten concert at the City Winery.

Hattie B's specialty is fried chicken.  The heat choices are mild to "Shut the Cluck Up".  Ann stayed with the mild and Bennie tried the medium.  I suspect if Brandon had been with us, he would have tried the hottest one.

The Victor Wooten concert was great.  The venue required proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test.  It was the first time we had to show our vaccination cards and they did check.  Victor Wooten is amazing and can produce sounds from a bass guitar that are unbelievable.  We sat across from a professional bass player who said at the end of the concert that we was going home to cry.
